Wish to Write

So long as you write what you wish to write that is all that matters and whether it matters for ages or for hours, nobody can say. Virginia Woolf, A Room of One’s Own
Quotation from Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own

This past weekend I was working on a To-Do list and the question of what to write during the 100 Days of Writing Project came up and I was overwhelmed by all the different things I wanted to write about. In a way, I felt guilt and shame for having the desire to write it all and depriving myself of time to write at all. I felt like I should have already written an article from my dissertation or that I wasted money on an art project that I never finished that would tell my story. I have dreamt of finishing by small book of poems. I want to finish my “resume” on what makes me a great life partner. There’s so many options, almost too many to know where to begin.

It’s a funny thing how the universe works, because my co-creator of the 100 Days of Writing Project posted a question to the Facebook group,

What do you wish to write?

Such a simple question and yet it had brought up a lot of emotions for me and no clear answers. I do not know what I will write about for 100 days. I know this journey that I am on to get into a writing practice that fits my desires will be a long and windy road. What I do know, is that I just wish to write. And that is what I will do!

Will you join us?
